7 Deadly Mistakes Made in Paint Application
Amateur mistakes you need to avoid for a flawless surface. Secrets of professional painters.

Even if you buy the highest quality paint in the world, it is inevitable that the result will be frustration with the wrong application. Painting is not just rubbing the roller on the wall, it is a process management. Here are the most common mistakes and solutions:
- Skipping Surface Preparation: The biggest mistake. Paint is not applied to dirty, dusty, or loose ground. Not using primer causes paint to stick to dust, not the wall.
- Using Cheap Equipment: Poor quality roller leaves lint, makes marks. If your paint is water-based, use synthetic bristle brush and satin roller.
- Wrong Thinning: The logic "The more watery the paint, the more area it paints" is wrong. The coverage and chemical structure of the paint deteriorates. Stick to the ratio (%10-15) in the technical sheet.
- Not Waiting Between Coats: Applying the second coat before the first coat dries tears off (drags) the paint underneath. Be patient (min. 4 hours).
- Ignoring Weather Conditions: Paint cooks on the wall in very hot weather, marks remain. It does not dry in very cold weather. Ideal temperature is between 10-30°C.
- Removing Masking Tape Late: If you pull the tape after the paint is completely dry, the paint comes with the film layer. Tape should be removed while the paint is slightly damp.
- Not Mixing: Pigments settle to the bottom. Mix the paint homogeneously before and during use.
